Meet Amanda Lipson, Founder
Amanda Lipson believes we are meaning-makers, choice-bearers, and humans in constant motion. With a passion for helping individuals reclaim their narratives, she founded The Edit Therapy, a space where transformation happens one small shift at a time.
Amanda earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, where she was a four-year starter for the top-ranked women’s soccer team. With a business degree from the Mendoza College of Business, Amanda spent the next decade as a copywriter and creative director. What began as a creative pull toward storytelling eventually became something more, a desire to hear the stories people don’t always know how to tell. The ones hidden in silence, tension, or longing. That pull brought Amanda to counseling, where truth, connection, and authenticity have space to breathe. In 2024, Amanda earned her Master of Science in Counseling degree from Southern Methodist University, where she received the Outstanding Scholarship Award, which recognizes students who consistently demonstrate learning and scholarly achievement at the highest levels.
Amanda is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in the state of Texas (#97017), currently practicing under the supervision of Melissa Harrison, MA, LPC-Supervisor. She completed her clinical practicum at the SMU Center for Family Counseling and her internship at the Irving Family Advocacy Center (IFAC), where she worked with adolescent and adult trauma survivors. Deeply inspired by her clients’ strength and resilience, Amanda currently serves as a volunteer therapist at IFAC, offering her clients an empathic and empowering space to find meaning within their experiences.
Within the therapy room, Amanda holds space for her clients with a trauma-informed, client-centered, and strengths-based approach grounded in humanistic and existential pillars. Her work invites clients to come home to themselves, to rediscover their resilience, explore their truth, and make meaning from the stories they carry. With gentleness and curiosity, Amanda walks alongside those navigating pain and uncertainty, helping them move toward healing and a more authentic, intentional life.
At The Edit, therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken, it’s about rediscovering what is already within you. Whether you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for a fresh start, Amanda will help you rewrite and reclaim your next chapter.
